Portrayal Of Women In Kannywood Bamalli, Mahmoud Nourah The core northern states represent the birth place of Kannywood, adopting Kano State as the major lead in the formation of the film industry, reason why the adoption of Kannywood, which implies Kano as the birth place of the film industry, just like Hollywood, Bollywood and Nollywood indicate the locations or the birth place of the industry and from where it springs and spreads to other locations. The birth place of Kannywood is predominantly an Islamic area, largely conquered by the Jihad of Uthman Danfodio some 300 years ago, who established the empire and handed over Islamic flags to the respective emirs in these locations. Over the years Islam and traditional cultures dominated the areas until the coming of the colonialization to the territory, and the eventual independence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on October 1, 1960. The portrayal of women in films has long been a source of concern for those involved in the industry. Women's values have been underrepresented and misrepresented over the years, giving women an image that makes them more or less than men, or the fact that a woman cannot be showcased as highly successful in her career but is instead misrepresented. The main source of feminist criticism of the film industry is misrepresentation and stereotyping.

Understanding the Evolution of tragic heros with a comparative analysis of the modern tragic heros with the Aristotelian tragic heros Jacobs, Olugbenga Oluwapamilerinayo The Tragic Hero mis a special protagonist that has been a powerful teaching tool for writers. This is clear because such characters demand more emotions from their audience. Their miserable circumstances always leave the audience vulnerable for the message to be passed on. A clear example is Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The epinomous hero mis forced to question his ideologies regarding life, values and family. This is due to the apparition of his late father who visits him in order to ask young Hamlet to avenge his death. The weight of such a task forces the character in to a constant phase of psychological trauma. Such a situation will force the audience to have pity on our tragic protagonist. Pity mis the tragedians trummp card. it is the emotion that is paramount to any tragedy. Using a comparative Analysis of the modern tragic hero and the Aristotelian Tragic hero, I have been able to outline the changes to the character’s concept over time. This work clearly shows that there is a clear change in the traits required for the Aristotelian Tragic Hero as compared to its modern counter parts. Charles Foster Kane in Orson Welle’s Citizen Kane gives a voice to depressed children psychological traumas that they face growing up. This indicates that the common man is subject for study. This is different from Oedipus in Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex whose journey is mainly focused the influence of the super natural in the affairs of the high standing members of society. The research paper aims to address these differences in order to explain the evolution of the tragic hero.

Attitude of college students towards news blogs Oluwajemilehin, Olutoyin Idowu To find students’ attitudes towards news blogs, convenience sampling method was used to select 175 students of the American University of Nigeria (AUN). These students were surveyed using an online questionnaire to ensure quick and easy response and data gathering. The results showed that students read and prefer the entertainment aspect of news blogs and read them mainly to get informed. However, the ones that do not read news blogs prefer to get their information from social media platforms.

How movie trailers, movie review and movie casts influence AUN students to watch movies Sawa, Abba There are many factors that influence people to watch movies. Three factors were identified for this research. The factors are movie trailers, movie reviews/ratings and movie casts. The goal was to find out if and how these factors influence the American University of Nigeria (AUN) undergraduate students to watch movies. In order to do this, a convenience and purposive sampling size of 125 students was used. Online surveys were used to collect data. The results showed that the movie trailers, movie reviews and movie casts, along with a few other factors such as movie directors, genre, plot, boredom and stress influence AUN students to watch movies. This research study was conducted in AUN, Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria.
